Ugadi 2006 Celebrations

on Saturday, April 8, 2006 from 3 pm to 9 pm

at Gideon Wells School

Glastonbury, CT

Telugu Association of Connecticut (TACT) welcomes its members and friends for TACT 2006 Ugadi "Sri Vyaya nama Samvatsara” Festival celebrations at Gideon Wells School in Glastonbury, Connecticut on Saturday Apr 8th 2006 from 3.00 PM to 9.00 PM. There will be various cultural events from local performers. There will be no snow date. In case of bad weather in Connecticut on this date, please contact any of the TACT Executive Committee members on 8th Apr 2006 by 10.00 AM for the status on Ugadi Celebrations or check the website http://www.ctindia.com/tact.html.

UGADI  PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

3.00pm – 4 pm     Social Hour, Snack , Shopping ( Sarees , Beads etc.)

4 pm – 7.30pm    Cultural Program ( Songs, Dance, Dramas etc.)

7:30 pm – 9 pm    South Indian Dinner

Event Charges   :   For Members $ 8 per Adult, Children $ 4 (Aged 6 - 12 yrs)

                             For Non - Members $ 15 per Adult  & Children $ 10 (Aged 6 - 12)

Cultural Events:

This year we have many programs for adults including Drama, Fashion Show, Bingo and many more…

Don’t miss this occasion. Telugu School children are preparing special drama for you. Let us celebrate Ugadi together with our friends and family.  

Members who are willing to participate in cultural program should contact Suma Paladugu at Tel: (860) 432 7135 or Babitha Marala at Tel: (860) 437 3166 or Jaya Ganta at Tel: (860)-658-2373 by March 31^st, 2006. Due to time constraints and for better coordination of the event, we are enclosing the following guidelines for the cultural program.

·          The cultural program includes performances by adults, youth and children.

·          Group performances are strongly encouraged and will be given preference.

·          This is a first come first serve basis; we can’t accept any request after the deadline of March 31st.

·          Due to time constraint, we may limit the total number of programs.

·          The cultural programs will start sharp at 4:00 PM. 

·          Performers and their parents are requested to be ready and report to the cultural committee by 3:30 PM

-         Full Name(s) of the performer(s).

-         Age(s) of the performers.

-         Telephone number(s) & E-mail address(s) of the performers.

-         Title of the performance.

-         2-3 lines on the performance – choreographed by etc.

Driving Directions to Gideon Welles School, Glastonbury-CT, 06033:

From the North (Springfield, Massachusetts)

Take Route 91 South until Exit 25B-Route 3 North. Cross over the Putnam Bridge (Connecticut River) and take Route 2 East (stay in right hand lane). Take exit 9, Neipsic Road and take a left at the bottom of the ramp. You will pass a park on the left hand side, continue up the long hill. We are located on the left hand side at the top of the hill. Our address is 1029 Neipsic Road.

From the South (New York City)

Route 95 to I-91 North. I-91 North to the Putnam Bridge Exit-Glastonbury-Exit 25. Go across the river and pick up Route 2 East-stay in the right hand lane going across the river. Follow Route 2 East until you get to Neipsic Road, exit 9. Take this exit and turn left at the bottom of the ramp. Follow Neipsic Road up the long hill, passing a park on the left. We are on the left hand side after the top of the hill. Our address is 1029 Neipsic Road.

From the East — (Eastern Massachusetts)

Take Route 84 West to Route 2 East towards Norwich (this is a left hand exit). Stay on Route 2 until you see the Neipsic Road, exit 9. At the end of the ramp, turn left and travel East on Neipsic Road past a park on the left. Continue up a long hill. We are on the left after the top of the hill. Our address is 1029 Neipsic Road.

From the West  (Hartford, CT)

Take 84 East to Route 2-Norwich/Glastonbury. This is a right hand exit which comes quickly after crossing The Connecticut River. Follow Route 2 East until you reach exit 9, Neipsic Road. At the end of the ramp, take a left and follow Neipsic Road past a park on the left. Follow up a long hill. We are on the left hand side at the top of the hill. Our address is 1029 Neipsic Road.

Please join us in the Telugu Association of Connecticut to work as a member of the TACT executive committee to serve the growing Telugu community of Connecticut for next 2 years (2006- 2008). Telugu Movie MURARI Str. Mahesh Babu and Sonali Bendre was screened on Mother's Day May 13, 2001 Sunday at Cine 1-2-3-4 ,New Haven.We thank all the members and friends who attended the movie.

Summer Picnic 2001 held at Hop Brook Lake, Middlebury, CT on July 21, 2001. We thank all the members and friends who attended the picnic.

How to become a Member:
You can become a member in two ways.
1) You can attend one of the TACT's upcoming events and filling up the Membership application & pay by check (or cash) at the Registration.
2) You can mail a check with your details like address, your spouse name (for Family memberships), phone number and email address with the check. On the check, please note that it is for "Membership".

Membership will be effective for one year from Ugadi to Ugadi Event.
